Provides services to the NHS. Peter Kyle, the minister for science, innovation and technology, accepted a staff member from an AI-firm linked to Dominic Cummings – a donation in kind worth £36,000.

Faculty AI, which previously worked with Cummings’ Vote Leave campaign, provided Kyle with a secondee to help with “policy research on AI” for one day a week between May and June 2024, according to the register of MPs’ financial interests.

In October, Kyle announced the creation of a new Regulatory Innovation Office (RIO) which aims to “reduce the burden of red tape” for introducing new technologies such as AI into public services, including the NHS.

The announcement said that the RIO “will support the healthcare sector to deploy AI innovations safely, improving NHS efficiency and patients’ health outcomes.”

Faculty is already involved in providing AI services to the NHS. It was awarded a £2 million contract by the Department of Health and Social Care in September 2023 to create a platform for the NHS aimed at accelerating its use of AI for medical imaging. The contract is set to expire in March 2025.
